Ponta do Ouro currently has no banks or ATM so don't forget to draw money; ZAR is widely accepted.
A couple of places take credit cards.

Ponta Malongane and Ponta Mamoli, the other two, smaller Pontas are far quieter and more spread out than their big brother Ponta do Ouro.
They have no village centre as such no restaurants and shops, but the beaches are gorgeous and deserted.

Top tips for maximising your pleasure in the Pontas:

• Remember there is no bank or ATM.  Some places will take credit cards, but it's best to draw money before you get there;
• Do not set off in your Mini Cooper. Maputaland and The Pontas are 4x4 territory, involving sandy tracks and dune roads. You can arrange transfer from the border. You can also get a daily chapa from Catembe Ferry in Maputo or from the Kosy Bay border.
• Switch off your phone and relax. Reception here is dodgy. Your best bet for reception is at the top of the hill in town.
